Warning: Study Claims That Frequent Usage Of Antibacterial Soap Causes Kanser
But despite the fact that simple hand washing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections, washing hands with an antibacterial soap has been linked to tumor growth.
According to a study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, an agent in some antibacterial hand soaps was linked to some growing tumors in mice samples
Researchers studying the effects of the chemical triclosan found that mice exposed to the ingredient had more and bigger liver tumors than mice that were not in contact with it.
Furthermore, triclosan has been shown to disrupt the testosterone hormone by mimicking the feminizing estrogen hormone.
This throws the endocrine system out of balance and leads to abnormal cell growth resulting in breast cancer in women and formation of malignant tumors.
While researchers said the triclosan was not a direct carcinogen the study author called it a “tumor promoter” that causes tumors to form once a mutation has occurred.
Due to the pressure from the public, many producers have reformulated their products without triclosan and done so without previous notice.
Always check the labels of the personal care products you use, and look for “antibacterial protection” on it. Some soaps contain triclocarban instead of triclosan, which is the same dangerous chemical.
