South Korea Offers Scholarships Opportunities To Students and Simplify Visa Requirements for Filipino Tourists

By now, Koreans are in almost all of the Philippines major urban areas. From up north in the cool city of Baguio to Davao City down south in Mindanao, Korean restaurants and groceries, bearing Korean-language signs, can be seen.

They have established everything, from churches, hotels and resorts to gigantic manufacturing facilities. There are even Korean-only suburbs in Cavite.

On the other hand, Filipinos also seem to be embracing Korean culture. Kimchi is a popular dish, says Sandara Park, a Korean immigrant, who is now a popular local actress/singer whose career began after being voted by Filipinos as the winner of a local talent search.

Korean television dramas called "Koreanovelas" locally are a passion on primetime TV.

Many Korean parents also opt to have their children take up high school and college in Philippine schools and universities, instead of just short courses, to make sure that they learn English well.

The cost of enrolling here is significantly cheaper than sending the kids to school in Canada or the U.S., and the passion for English back in Korea is intense.

But for those Filipino who wants to travel or study in Korea is now easy and hassle free. This was announced directly from South Korean ambassador Han Dong-man.

He also added that they are encouraging more Filipinos to visit South Korea by simplifying the process of visa applications.

It was highlighted while celebrating the 70th year anniversary of the diplomatic ties between South Korea and

Han also shared that half a million Filipinos visited South Korea in 2018 during the celebration.

With that, he make sure visa applications have been happening through travel agencies as of late, greatly reducing lines at the South Korean embassy, they are also making it a lot easier to apply by reducing the volume of documents needed.

Government workers, media and qualified professionals will be entitled for multiple entry visas which are valid from 5 to 10 years. Submitting a document stating that they work for a specific company is all they essentially need to do.

Interestingly, Filipino students looking to seek educational opportunities in South Korea, the country is also offering double the number of scholarships they’re already giving to Filipinos who wish to study there.

It’s not only Korean students who are encouraged to study in Philippines, but Filipino students are also being invited to study in the South Korea, this is what Han said about encouraging a “people-to-people” exchange.

Embracing other culture doesn’t mean your forgetting or leaving your own, it is just a matter of allowing individuals to explore and extent their experience and knowledge. This is actually can be led into creating peace and helping each other regardless of culture and nationality. Indeed, this great opportunity to easy travel and study must be share to everyone.
