BANANA TEA: Boil Some Bananas Before Bed To Treat Insomnia Naturally Without Medication

We’ve all had those restless nights of tossing and turning, staring at the ceiling, unable to get more than a couple hours of shut-eye.

And the more you worry about not sleeping, the more your mind races, and next thing you know, the sun is peeking through the window.

If your mind is active, chances are you won’t fall asleep.

Irregular sleeping patterns or even insomnia can stem from several different things like depression, stress and anxiety.

That is why, some would turn to sleeping pills just to get a goodnight sleep. However, sleeping pills cannot help you in a long-term run, but only provide a short-term fix.

Most of them are a specific drug type which induce and maintain sleep.

The first can be addictive and used in treating anxiety disorders by increasing drowsiness. The latter depress the central nervous system and are used as anesthetics and sedatives.

They may also cause side effects like:

- Difficulty focusing and remembering
- Dizziness
- Constipation
- Uncontrollable shaking
- Weakness
- Stomach pain
- Pasasomnias
- Slow down breathing rhythm (it can be dangerous or even fatal if you suffer from lung diseases like COPD and asthma).

So, if you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, try this banana-infused tea as a bedtime snack.

Studies have shown that magnesium can be helpful in preventing you from pulling yourself out of sleep, and the potassium and magnesium help your blood vessels and muscles relax.

Ingredients:  
1 raw banana
1 small pot of water
sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)

Directions:
1. Boil water. Cut off both ends of banana and place in water. Boil for about 10 minutes.
2. Pour water through colander and into mug. Drink one hour before bed.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can also eat the banana and its peel an hour before bed. For an extra flavor kick, sprinkle with cinnamon.
